Gran Hotel ***

Overview

Its construction dates to 1939. The Gran Hotel is located on the boulevard of Maceo Street in the heart of the old city from where you can walk to the most important sites. In 1894 the building was called the Hotel Refrigerador, property of the Catalonian Agustin Marsal, until early last century when it opened its doors as the Gran Hotel. Its present architecture is of 1938 and displays the styles predominant of the times with decorations of woodwork and functionality of space to give it a warm and restful ambiance in the midst of the busy commercial area of the city. Famous personalities have stayed in the hotel during their visit to the city, such as the Mexicans Jorge Negrete and Mario Moreno (Cantinflas), Nicolas Guillen the National Poet of Cuba, the prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso and Rita Montaner, the only one, among many others.
